1999
When Woody is stolen by a greedy toy collector, he learns he's a rare collectible and meets the rest of his old TV show's gang, who are headed to a museum in Japan. As Buzz and the others cross the city to rescue him, Woody must choose between living forever behind glass and returning to a boy who will one day grow up.
The default: films the whole family can watch together; any scary or intense moments for the littlest viewers are flagged in the Context Notes.
Why it’s here
Woody has to choose between a safe life on display and the risk of being loved by a child, while his friends risk everything to bring him home. Loyalty and friendship win.
Context notes
For parents, before you press play.
Jessie's song about being forgotten is sad, a trusted character betrays the others, and there's a road-crossing and airport chase. Woody is tempted to abandon Andy and chooses loyalty, which is worth pointing out.
