In a Scottish village in 1912, veterinarian Andrew MacDhui is a widower who has lost his faith. When he puts down his daughter Mary's beloved cat, Thomasina, the heartbroken girl turns away from him, and a reclusive woman the village calls a witch may hold the key.

Why it’s here
A proud father's heart is broken and healed, and faith and love are restored.
Context notes
For parents, before you press play.
Thomasina's apparent death and Mary's grief, including her refusal to speak to her father, are sad; the film shows the estrangement healed through repentance. Children who have lost a pet may be upset that this cat comes back.
