Why it’s here

Two mice answer an orphan girl's plea, an old cat tells Penny that faith is what keeps you going, and she's finally adopted into a family.

Context notes

For parents, before you press play.

An orphan is kidnapped and forced into a dangerous cave, Medusa fires a shotgun, and there are alligators, all intense for little ones. Moonshine drinking is played for laughs.

Discussion questions

When the credits end, go around the room. Each person gives the film a score out of ten and says why.

  1. What did Rufus tell Penny about faith?
  2. Why did Bernard keep going even though he was afraid?
  3. What did you think of Madame Medusa?
  4. What do you think Penny wanted most?

Content advisory

Common Sense Media 6+: a kidnapped orphan, a shotgun fired, near drowning; an adult calls a child a "brat"; mice drink moonshine.
