Why it’s here

An elegant mother cat leads her kittens home with the help of a scrappy alley cat who becomes a father to them. Jazz, humor, and a family restored.

Context notes

For parents, before you press play.

A butler drugs the cats and abandons them, and there's a comically drunk goose. The Siamese cat in "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat" is a caricature (Disney+ attaches an advisory).

Discussion questions

When the credits end, go around the room. Each person gives the film a score out of ten and says why.

  1. Why did Edgar want to get rid of the cats?
  2. What did O'Malley do to help Duchess and the kittens?
  3. Which kitten were you most like?
  4. Was the jazz music beautiful, or just loud?

Content advisory

Common Sense Media 4+: cats drugged and abandoned; chases; a comically drunk goose.
