Why it’s here

Two married couples, human and canine, welcome a houseful of puppies, and Pongo and Perdita brave a winter journey to rescue them. A warm picture of marriage and children as a joyful gift.

Context notes

For parents, before you press play.

Cruella is menacing and threatens to skin the puppies for coats, and the chases in the snow may scare little ones. Cruella smokes constantly.

Discussion questions

When the credits end, go around the room. Each person gives the film a score out of ten and says why.

  1. Why did Cruella want the puppies?
  2. What did Pongo and Perdita risk to save them?
  3. Who helped along the way?
  4. Why do you think Roger and Anita took in all 101?

Content advisory

Common Sense Media 5+: a frightening villain and puppies in peril; Cruella smokes constantly; henchmen drink; chaste romance.
