2008
Po is a clumsy panda who works in his father's noodle shop and dreams of kung fu. When an old master unexpectedly names him the Dragon Warrior, Po must train under a doubtful teacher before a vengeful warrior returns to the valley.
The default: films the whole family can watch together; any scary or intense moments for the littlest viewers are flagged in the Context Notes.
Why it’s here
A clumsy dreamer becomes a hero through humble work and a teacher's patient discipline, while a gifted villain is undone by pride and entitlement. It honors elders' wisdom and the adoptive father who loves Po.
Context notes
For parents, before you press play.
Constant martial-arts fighting and a menacing villain may be intense for the youngest, and jokes about Po's weight are played for laughs. Tai Lung's rage at the master who raised him is shown as pride leading to ruin, which is worth pointing out.
