Why it’s here

A good-natured Disney sports comedy in which a field-goal-kicking mule and a homesick young Yugoslavian help a hopeless team win. Light, clean, and fun.

Context notes

For parents, before you press play.

Gamblers try to kidnap and sabotage Gus, and there's mild slapstick; the gamblers are clearly villains. Nothing else of note.

Discussion questions

When the credits end, go around the room. Each person gives the film a score out of ten and says why.

  1. Why did the Atoms need Gus?
  2. What did the crooks try to do?
  3. What did Andy miss about home?
  4. Was it fair to have a mule on the team?

Content advisory

Common Sense Media 6+: very mild slapstick and a threat of a beating.
