2003
Marlin, an anxious clownfish father, has kept his only son Nemo close, until a diver scoops the boy out of the reef. With a cheerful, forgetful fish named Dory at his side, Marlin crosses the whole ocean to bring his son home.
The default: films the whole family can watch together; any scary or intense moments for the littlest viewers are flagged in the Context Notes.
Why it’s here
A father's love sends him across the sea, and along the way he learns that protecting a child also means trusting him to grow. It honors fatherhood rather than mocking it, with real beauty beneath the waves.
Context notes
For parents, before you press play.
A barracuda kills Nemo's mother and siblings in the opening (off-screen), and sharks, an anglerfish, and a jellyfish field create intense peril for little ones. Nemo defies his father and swims to the boat, is captured as a result, and both father and son learn from it, so it's a natural talk about obedience and trust.

Content advisory
Common Sense Media 5+: sharp-toothed creatures, an implied death at the start, tense peril; no language concerns.
