1968
Eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts, a widower, restores a wrecked race car for his two children, and it turns out it can fly. In the story that follows, they and Truly Scrumptious travel to Vulgaria, where the Baron and Baroness have outlawed children.
The default: films the whole family can watch together; any scary or intense moments for the littlest viewers are flagged in the Context Notes.
Why it’s here
A widowed father and his children in an inventive tale by Ian Fleming, with songs by the Sherman Brothers.
Context notes
For parents, before you press play.
The Child Catcher is genuinely frightening for many little ones, so preview him; children are caged, and all is resolved. One "ass," a party with smoking and drinking, and a dance in old-fashioned lingerie.
