1977
A con man recruits Casey Brown, a tough Los Angeles foster kid, to pose as the long-lost granddaughter of Lady St. Edmund so she can find a treasure hidden at Candleshoe, the family's English estate. There the butler, Priory, and a houseful of orphans begin to win her heart.
For children old enough to talk it through: sustained intensity, or language or sexual content that Common Sense Media rates 7–9.
Why it’s here
A hardened girl finds a family and chooses honesty, with David Niven in a string of disguises and Helen Hayes.
Context notes
For parents, before you press play.
Casey lies and schemes to deceive Lady St. Edmund; she repents and tells the truth, which is a good talk about honesty. A girl fight, a slapstick sword fight, and "bloody."
