1971
During the London Blitz, three evacuee children are sent to Eglantine Price, an apprentice witch in a seaside village. With a flying bed and a bogus professor of magic, they hunt for a spell to help defend England.
The default: films the whole family can watch together; any scary or intense moments for the littlest viewers are flagged in the Context Notes.
Why it’s here
Disney's other Mary Poppins: a lonely woman and three war orphans become a family.
Context notes
For parents, before you press play.
Miss Price's witchcraft is the fantasy premise, which some families will want to talk about, and the Nazi raid and the rough animated soccer match are action-heavy for little ones. The children are orphaned by the war; mild "shut up" and flirtation.
